Winchester Dental is certified by the American Academy of Facial Esthetics for the administration of BOTOX® for the treatment and prevention of several conditions.

Myofascial Pain and Botox

Myofascial Pain Syndrome is typically characterized by the presence of trigger points treated through injections of small doses of BOTOX® type A (BTX-A). This treatment provides prolonged muscle relaxation and can be easily targeted directly at the affected muscles.

Several research reports support BOTOX® (BTX-A) injections in the treatment of the Myofascial Pain Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. One such study was conducted by the Pain Evaluation & Treatment Centre in Tulsa. Results indicate that 70 percent of patients with MPS who received the BTX-A injections over a two year period reported remarkable pain relief for 2.5 to 3.6 months. The patients were even able to support a therapeutic exercise regimen.

BOTOX® has been shown to be a successful treatment plan where other conventional therapies have fallen short. It also is proven to have a longer lasting effect than steroids and more superior results than lidocaine.

Visible results using BOTOX® treatment can take time, sometimes up to three weeks. If you experience myofascial pain and are looking for treatment options, let us sit down with you to evaluate your situation and see if Botox is the right option for you.

Migraines and Botox

BOTOX® is the first and only FDA-approved preventive treatment for chronic migraines. Unlike acute treatments, which are taken to treat a headache or migraine once it’s already begun, BOTOX® prevents headaches and migraines before they even start. BOTOX® prevents on average 8 to 9 headache days and migraine/probable migraine days a month.

BOTOX® is a prescription medicine that is injected to prevent headaches in adults with chronic migraines who have 15 or more days each month with headaches lasting four or more hours each day in people 18 years or older.

BOTOX® is administered every 12 weeks as a preventative treatment. More than 100,000 people with chronic migraines have been treated with BOTOX® since FDA approval in 2010. Source:
